QANTAS LINK, Sydney Domestic Airport, Concept 2008

Work for Woodhead Architects. This extension of Sydney's domestic terminal T3 was designed to accommodate two gates with lounges and connect terminals T3 with T2. The façade required special attention due to its westerly aspect and huge afternoon heat load in the summer. Several options of double skin curtain wall were considered. Nodes and link-bridges were part of the design as well – suspended corridors between the gate and the node, where the movable aerobridges connect with a boarding plane. Nodes are the louvered cylinders between aerobridge and link-bridge, where the crucial services are placed. Design team: David Holm, Michael Chaplin, Wei Yee Teng.
