BALLSBRIDGE, Dublin, Ireland. Completed 2006

Work for Ashlin Coleman Architects. Ballsbridge is a fancy business district of Dublin. This development was marketed as The Oval, despite its features being circular. It is predominantly office space with some retail facing the representative Shelbourne Road. The client was inspired by Renzo Piano's Potsdamer Platz in Berlin which was newly opened at the time. We used the same ceramic elements that Piano used which was appreciated. A listed red-brick chimney had been left after an industrial estate being revitalised there. This chimney stands proudly and well-lit in the middle of the new courtyard.
